Theology and Imagination

I have just finished watching I, Robot with Will Smith for the first time, and thought that it was a very appropriate film to review here.

It shares the same themes found in books such as Frankenstein, and deals with issues of identity and free will. It is based on a collection of short stories by the science fiction writer Isaac Asimov.

I found it a gripping film: the big questions asked by the robot, Sonny, are “What am I?”, “Am I unique?” and “What is my purpose?” – all questions that we can ask. Who are we? If we are unique, why? What is our purpose in life?
